Binary to Decimal Converter

Enter a base-2 integer to get its decimal value.

—Binary → Decimal

Binary value inspector with signed-width evidence

Validate binary digits, convert to decimal and hexadecimal, and inspect the same bit pattern as signed two's complement at 8, 16, 32 or 64 bits.

—Decimal
—Hex

Ready.

Representation is context

A hexadecimal or binary string does not automatically tell you whether a value is signed, how wide it is, whether bytes are little endian, or whether the bits represent an integer or floating-point value.

Representation details that matter

Binary to Decimal Converter treats the value as an integer written in a positional numeral system. Changing the base changes the digits used to represent the number, not the underlying quantity. Leading zeroes normally carry formatting meaning only, while a minus sign represents a negative mathematical integer rather than a fixed-width two’s-complement bit pattern.

How to verify the conversion

For a quick independent check, expand a source value by place value: each digit is multiplied by a power of the source base and the terms are added. When converting back, repeated division by the destination base should reconstruct the original integer. If a protocol or file format requires an exact bit width, signedness, padding, byte order, or overflow behavior, apply those rules separately instead of assuming a plain base conversion defines them.
