A canonical link is a hint, not a command. A noindex directive must be fetched to be seen; robots.txt crawl blocking can prevent page-level directives from being read.

Search-engine boundaries

Local markup checks cannot know what a crawler fetched, rendered, indexed or selected as canonical. Search engines may rewrite title links/snippets, choose different canonicals, ignore invalid or ineligible structured data, and apply live HTTP/robots conditions that are not present in pasted text. Treat these tools as pre-publish QA, then verify live behavior with the relevant search-engine tools.

Canonical and indexing intent must agree

Review canonical, robots meta and X-Robots-Tag together. A canonical is a hint; noindex is an indexing directive. Conflicting intent is surfaced instead of reduced to a fake indexability score.
