A checklist is most reliable when every item describes an observable finished state. Replace vague entries such as “work on report” with a result that can be verified, and separate multi-step tasks when partial completion would otherwise be ambiguous.
Imported or repeatedly edited lists can contain near-duplicate work under slightly different spacing or capitalization. Review duplicate warnings, decide whether the items are truly the same obligation, and merge them deliberately instead of assuming every similar line should be removed automatically.
Local autosave is convenient but should not be the only record for an important checklist. Export Markdown or CSV at meaningful milestones, especially before clearing completed items or moving to another device, so progress and wording can be recovered independently of browser storage.
A checklist confirms what must be done, but it does not automatically establish the best order, deadline, owner, or dependency. For complex work, add that planning elsewhere or encode it clearly in item text, then verify that prerequisite tasks appear before actions that depend on them.
