Pixel block size controls both style and information loss
Larger blocks hide more fine detail but also remove edges, small text and facial features. Preview the actual export at 100% scale instead of judging only the resized browser preview.
Pixelation is not a guaranteed privacy technique
A mosaic can obscure visual detail, but it may still leave contextual clues and does not remove hidden metadata from the original file. For sensitive material, crop or remove the source information and review metadata separately.
Export format changes the final appearance
PNG preserves hard pixel-block edges without lossy compression, while JPEG may introduce ringing or softened boundaries. WebP quality settings can also change block edges, so compare the downloaded file rather than relying only on the canvas.
Keep the untouched original
Pixelation is destructive to image detail. Save the effect as a new file so block size, crop and compression can be adjusted later without repeatedly processing an already degraded version.
Check block size against the exported dimensions
A 12-pixel block has a very different visual effect on a 300-pixel image than on a 3000-pixel image. Verify the output width and height together with the chosen block size so resizing, device previews or later scaling do not disguise the actual pixelation level.
