Build a real year-at-a-glance calendar instead of choosing a static template
Pick any first month and render the next twelve months, so the same page handles January–December, July–June fiscal years, August–July school years and rolling planning windows. Sunday-first and Monday-first views change layout only; the underlying Gregorian dates stay the same.
Design for the paper you will actually use
Choose US Letter, A4 or A3, portrait or landscape, and a 4×3 or 3×4 month grid. Clean, Planner, Low Ink and Classroom styles tune the visual treatment without changing dates. Browser print provides the PDF handoff, while SVG and PNG give portable visual files for slides, documents or wall printing.
Keep week and holiday semantics explicit
ISO week labels follow ISO 8601 and therefore remain Monday-based even when the visible calendar starts on Sunday. The optional holiday layer is intentionally limited to US federal holidays and their weekend-observed dates; it is not a complete state, school, payroll, market or religious calendar.
Fast academic or fiscal-year workflow
1. Enter the year that contains the first month. 2. Choose August, July or another start month. 3. Pick Monday-first and ISO weeks if that matches your planning system. 4. Add major deadlines as custom events. 5. Select paper/orientation and print to PDF or export SVG/PNG. 6. Save a local project if you expect to revise the same calendar later.
Separate shareable settings from private planning text
The reproducible link contains layout settings only. It deliberately excludes the custom title, notes and event text. Project JSON is the explicit portable format when you want those details to move with the calendar, and local saves occur only when you press Save locally.
Use calendar exports for the job they actually perform
SVG and PNG preserve the visual year overview. CSV lists displayed events for spreadsheets. ICS exports the displayed federal/custom dates as all-day events for calendar software. None of those formats claims to reproduce printer hardware behavior, organizational holiday policy or legal deadline rules.
