Area Calculator

Choose the shape and enter consistent linear units; square-unit results follow automatically, while specialist calculators provide shape-specific secondary measurements.

Formula
A = l × w
10 × 5

Use consistent measurements and valid geometric assumptions

Keep linear inputs in a consistent unit, verify that side lengths or coordinate points can form the stated shape, and treat sketches as explanatory unless explicitly marked to scale. Coordinate formulas can become unstable for nearly degenerate shapes, so invalid or nearly collinear inputs are rejected rather than silently returning misleading values.

How to use this Area Calculator

Choose the shape first; the labeled diagram and field names update to show exactly which dimensions are needed. Generic units preserve pure geometry, while real length units let the calculator convert dimensions before producing the area. The formula, an equivalent-square side, and any available perimeter context are shown with the result.

Formulas, units, and limits

Area is a two-dimensional measure, so all length inputs must describe the same physical scale. For a circular sector, the angle is in degrees and is not converted as a length. Ellipse perimeter is an approximation, while the area formula is exact. A composite or coordinate-defined irregular region is better handled by the dedicated related tools.
