Practical guide and verification
Choose the counting mode before the run
A step of one is appropriate for ordinary event counting, while larger steps are useful when each physical click represents a batch. Confirm the displayed step before starting so the count has the intended real-world meaning.
Separate physical clicks from displayed total
The displayed value can change by more than one per click when a custom step is active. Keep the raw click count beside the scaled total when you need to compare motor activity, throughput, or event rate.
Use elapsed time for repeatable rate comparisons
Clicks per second or per minute only make sense when runs use comparable durations and start conditions. Save separate runs instead of combining warm-up, interrupted, and focused periods into one rate.
Reset deliberately between independent trials
A reset clears the current count, so capture or copy any result you need before starting a new trial. Local history is useful for comparison but should not be treated as permanent storage.
Do not use a click counter as a medical or hardware diagnostic
Browser input timing can be affected by device polling, OS settings, browser scheduling, and user technique. The tool measures browser-visible events and cannot diagnose a physical condition or certify hardware performance.
