Mouse Polling Rate Test

Measure the pointer cadence your browser can actually observe, not a guessed USB label. Compare raw or coalesced event paths, median interval, jitter, timing gaps, timer resolution and repeated trials before you judge a mouse setting.

Mouse Polling & Browser Signal Studio

Measure the cadence delivered to this browser, then inspect interval distribution, jitter, timing gaps, capability limits and repeatability instead of trusting one peak-Hz number.

Detecting browser capabilities…

Measurement boundary. This is browser-observed pointer timing, not direct USB descriptor or mouse-firmware telemetry. The OS, browser scheduling, event coalescing, tab focus, timer precision, power settings and system load can all change the number. High-rate 2/4/8 kHz mice can exceed what a browser can resolve reliably.

Repeatability — saved numeric trials

Saving is explicit. Only numeric summaries and the chosen settings are stored in this browser; pointer coordinates and raw timestamp streams are not saved.

How to compare mouse settings honestly

  1. Use the same browser, USB port/receiver placement, power mode and test duration.
  2. Move continuously in similar circles; pauses create long intervals and lower estimates.
  3. Prefer the median interval/rate and distribution over one peak value.
  4. Run at least three trials. Treat high-rate results cautiously when the selected target approaches or exceeds the displayed timer-resolution ceiling.
  5. If browser paths disagree, report the event path instead of treating the higher number as automatically correct.

How to test mouse polling cadence

Move the pointer rapidly and continuously inside the test area for several seconds. Review median and average rate together with the p10–p90 spread and stability score; one isolated peak is less useful than a sustained cluster of samples.

Why browser results can differ from hardware settings

The page measures PointerEvent timing delivered to JavaScript. The operating system and browser can schedule or coalesce movement before the page sees it, and high-rate devices may not appear at their configured USB report rate in every browser.

Compare repeatably

Use the same browser, screen, movement pattern and test duration when comparing settings. Trackpads and mice are not directly interchangeable because their event processing can differ.
