Easy Grader

Use W to add a wrong answer and R to reset while grading papers, or click the controls. The chart updates for every possible score and can be copied for reuse.

Grading scales, rounding, retake rules, missing-work policies, extra credit, and category weighting vary by school and course. Match the calculator settings to the syllabus or gradebook policy.

Match the gradebook model before trusting the target

Separate question-count tests, pure points, weighted categories, final-exam weighting and GPA scales. Then reconcile the calculator with the syllabus rule actually used by the class.

How to use this Easy Grader

Set the number of questions, then grade papers quickly with the wrong-answer stepper or the W keyboard shortcut. R resets to zero wrong. Half-point mode and an editable scale change the generated chart.

Accuracy and limits

The chart assumes equal-value questions. If individual questions have different point values, calculate using earned/possible points instead of question counts.

Using the grading chart correctly

Match the chart to the teacher’s scoring rule

Question count, points per question, half-points, rounding, and the letter scale can all change the cutoff table. Save or copy the chosen scale with the chart so a later score is not interpreted using different settings.

Rounding can move a displayed boundary

A displayed 90% can represent a range of underlying values when the course rounds to whole percentages. If a boundary matters, compare the unrounded points earned with the syllabus rule rather than relying only on the formatted percentage.

Dropped items and weighting require a course-grade tool

This page is strongest for one test or equal-point question sets. Category weighting, dropped scores, extra credit, late penalties, and course-level GPA rules should be handled with the corresponding grade or GPA calculator instead of being inferred from this chart.
