Image File Size Calculator

Estimate JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and raw image sizes from dimensions and quality, or drop a real image to check its exact file size locally.

Same dimensions, content and quality assumption. Ranges show uncertainty instead of pretending compression is exact.

Raw/BMP are deterministic pixel payloads; encoded formats are estimates.

What is exact vs estimated: width × height × channels × bits/channel is exact for the selected raw raster model. BMP/uncompressed pixel payload is deterministic apart from headers/row padding. JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF and camera RAW file sizes depend on the actual pixels, encoder, metadata and settings, so this calculator shows a planning range. Dropping a real image reports that file’s exact encoded bytes. DPI/PPI metadata does not change file size unless pixel dimensions or pixel data change.

Browser-local limits

Canvas-based export is browser dependent. PNG is broadly available; JPEG/WebP quality and support can vary, and metadata may not be preserved through canvas re-encoding.
