Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image, inspect any embedded resolution metadata, then compare effective print sizes and target-size PPI locally.

Choose an imageEmbedded DPI is metadata; actual printable detail is limited by pixel dimensions.

Effective PPI at your intended print size

After choosing an image, enter the physical output size. Effective PPI comes from raster pixels divided by print inches, regardless of metadata.

Limiting PPI
Metadata vs effective
A file can say “300 DPI” in metadata and still print at a different effective PPI when you choose another physical size. Pixel dimensions are the source of available raster detail.

Use the connected image workflow

Optimize only when needed, set dimensions deliberately, convert or edit for a real destination, then inspect the exported result before replacing your source asset.

Browser-local limits

Canvas-based export is browser dependent. PNG is broadly available; JPEG/WebP quality and support can vary, and metadata may not be preserved through canvas re-encoding.
