If a shift starts late in the evening and ends after midnight, the end time belongs to the next day. Confirm that the calculator treats this as an overnight interval rather than subtracting the times as if both occurred on the same date.
Net worked time is the shift span minus the unpaid break duration. Enter break start and end consistently, and verify that a break outside the shift or a break longer than the shift is not accepted as a plausible result.
Thirty minutes is 0.5 decimal hours, not 0.30 hours. When copying a total into payroll or a spreadsheet, check whether the destination expects hh:mm or decimal hours so a correct time interval is not misinterpreted.
A calculator can establish worked hours, but overtime thresholds, paid meal periods, rounding policies and penalties can differ by employer or jurisdiction. Preserve the raw start, break and end evidence before applying any policy-specific rule.
Write the gross interval, subtract the break, then compare that net total with the displayed minutes and decimal hours. For an eight-hour gross span with a 30-minute unpaid meal, the net result should be 7 hours 30 minutes, or 7.5 decimal hours.
