Practical guide and verification
Use the interactive product above first. These notes add interpretation, verification and limits below the results and product controls.
Accuracy should outrank raw key rate
A very high KPH score with frequent wrong digits is not useful for data entry. Compare speed and accuracy together, and repeat the test after correcting technique rather than chasing one peak number.
Use the same keypad and posture for comparisons
External numpads, laptop layouts, key travel and desk position can change performance. Record the test profile and keep the hardware and duration consistent when comparing sessions.
Longer tests expose sustainable speed
A 30-second burst can measure short-term peak performance, while 60 or 120 seconds reveals fatigue and consistency. Use the duration that matches the task and compare like with like across sessions.
Error patterns can be more useful than the headline KPH
Repeated misses around one key cluster, transposed digits or rhythm breaks suggest different training needs. Review the session history and accuracy rather than treating every error as random noise.
Browser timing is suitable for practice, not certification
System load, browser scheduling and input method can affect event timing. Use the test for consistent practice and self-comparison unless an employer or certification program specifies its own standardized test environment.
