Text Difference Checker

Paste or load two local text files, preserve the established line/word/character comparison rules, then inspect changes in the view that best fits the job without sending either text to a server.

No change selected

Comparison runs locally in your browser. Interactive diff is bounded to avoid locking the page on extremely large inputs.

Files and comparison stay in this browser.

How to use this Text Difference Checker

Paste text or load two local text files, select line/word/character granularity and normalization rules, then switch between inline and side-by-side review. Copy the report when the comparison needs to be reused elsewhere.

Privacy and limits

Interactive diff intentionally keeps the established bounded token limits so very large inputs do not lock the browser. Ignoring case or whitespace changes matching semantics and should be enabled only when those differences are irrelevant.

Use this result with confidence

Pick the comparison unit that matches the review task

Line mode is useful for source files and paragraphs, word mode highlights wording edits, and character or grapheme mode is better for punctuation and small substitutions. Switching modes changes what counts as one edit. Keep the same mode when comparing revisions so the size of a change is not distorted by the tokenizer.

Normalize only what you truly want to ignore

Case and whitespace options can remove noise, but they can also hide meaningful differences in code, identifiers, legal text, or formatting-sensitive data. Run a strict comparison first when fidelity matters. If you enable normalization, describe the ignored dimensions in the exported report so another reviewer understands what the diff excludes.

Use file import and navigation for large revisions

For long documents, load the two files directly and use previous or next difference controls instead of scanning the entire output. The unified patch is useful for handoff, while the side-by-side view is better for visual review. Keep the originals unchanged so every accepted edit can be traced back to its source.

A visual diff is evidence, not merge authority

A difference viewer shows where content diverges; it does not know which side is correct. For configuration, code, contracts, or translated text, review semantic meaning before applying changes. After a merge, compare the final result again against the intended source to catch accidental deletions or duplicated blocks.
