What this XML step proves
Decode only valid XML entity references.
What to review before handoff
Undefined or malformed entities are rejected rather than guessed, which protects downstream XML parsing.
Decode standard and numeric XML character references locally while rejecting malformed XML entity syntax.
Check structure, namespaces, repeated records, mixed content and remote-looking references. Converter pages review generated XML output when that is the handoff artifact.
Reviewing current XML…
Browser DOM parsing checks well-formedness and structure. It is not an XSD/DTD/business-rule validator, sanitizer or permission to trust remote resources; this review does not fetch external schemas or entities.
Decode XML predefined entities and numeric character references while making malformed or undeclared references visible. Choose strict rejection or preserve-invalid mode and inspect named, decimal and hex reference counts before using the decoded text.

Only the five XML predefined named entities are accepted without a DTD. Numeric references are checked for valid Unicode scalar values and XML 1.0 character ranges; no external entity resolution occurs.
