How this character counter counts text
The headline uses user-perceived grapheme clusters when the browser supports Unicode segmentation. The Studio separately reports Unicode code points, UTF-16 code units and UTF-8 bytes because those values can differ for emoji, combining marks and many non-ASCII characters.
Character limits are not all measured the same way
A form may limit visible characters, code units, bytes or a platform-specific unit. Use the editable limit planner and choose the matching metric instead of assuming every service counts text like a JavaScript string. Reference presets are shortcuts, not promises that a platform policy has not changed.
SMS, frequency and privacy
The SMS panel estimates common GSM-7 or Unicode segmentation and shows the encoding units it used. Frequency tables are calculated locally from the same text. Nothing has to be uploaded for counting, and draft autosave stays off unless you explicitly enable it on this device.
