RGB to CMYK Converter

Enter red, green, and blue values to estimate standard device-independent CMYK percentages.

Color and accessibility boundaries

HEX/RGB/HSL/HSV/OKLCH conversions are numerical color-model operations. CMYK output is an RGB-derived approximation rather than ICC-profiled print proofing. WCAG contrast ratios measure luminance contrast only and do not certify a full interface. Color-blindness previews are design simulations, not medical tests.

Practical guide and verification

Use the tool first, then apply these checks to verify inputs, interpret the result, and hand it off without displacing the primary workflow.

Recognize the device-profile boundary

A simple RGB-to-CMYK formula provides a generic mathematical conversion, not a press-specific color separation. Real print output depends on ICC profiles, inks, paper, total ink limits, black generation, rendering intent, and device calibration. Keep the original RGB value and the target print profile when color accuracy matters.

Check channel ranges and rounding

RGB channels should be interpreted on the expected 0–255 scale and CMYK channels as percentages or normalized fractions according to the destination. Round only for display, not midway through the conversion, and reverse-check a few values so formatting or percentage assumptions do not become a silent numeric error.

Expect gamut differences between screen and print

Bright screen colors can fall outside a printer’s reproducible gamut. A CMYK tuple that is mathematically derived does not guarantee a visual match on paper. Use a color-managed proof or design application with the correct profile before approving branding, packaging, photography, or other color-critical production work.

Preserve context when sharing the result

Record the RGB input, formula or profile assumption, CMYK output, and intended destination. Without that context, another person may treat a generic browser conversion as production-ready separations. The useful handoff is not only four percentages but also a clear statement of the conversion boundary.
