Sentence Case Converter

Normalize ordinary prose capitalization locally while keeping the sentence-case result clear.

Case conversion is mechanical. Locale-aware upper/lower mappings are used where the browser supports them; natural-language title capitalization and proper-noun restoration can require editorial judgment.

Title-case presets are practical editorial approximations, not a substitute for checking the current full style manual for edge cases, names, or publication-specific rules.

Text and Unicode limits

Editorial title-case rules have edge cases, syllable counts are heuristic, Unicode style substitutions depend on font/app support, and normalized or visually similar Unicode text is not automatically safe or equivalent. Structural XML comparison should use the XML-aware engine rather than a raw line diff.

Sentence boundaries are a language decision

Periods, question marks, and exclamation marks often end sentences, but abbreviations, initials, decimal numbers, URLs, and quoted text can contain the same punctuation without ending a sentence. Automatic sentence case is therefore a formatting aid rather than a grammar parser. Review ambiguous boundaries when converting formal writing or text with many abbreviations.

Proper nouns still require editorial review

Capitalizing the first character of a sentence cannot know that a person, company, product, place, acronym, or technical term needs internal capitalization. Preserve the original when those distinctions matter and scan the converted output for names such as iPhone, NASA, eBay, or language-specific forms that simple case rules may alter.

Locale changes can affect case mapping

Turkish, Azerbaijani, Lithuanian, German, and other languages include case behavior that differs from basic English assumptions. Select the closest supported locale where available, but do not treat automatic conversion as a substitute for language-aware proofreading. Mixed-language text may need manual correction even when each sentence boundary is detected correctly.

Keep machine-readable fragments out of prose transforms

Code, CSS selectors, URLs, email addresses, command names, and identifiers can be case-sensitive. If a document mixes prose and machine syntax, convert only the prose portion or restore the technical tokens afterward. Compare a before-and-after copy when the transformed text will be published, because case changes can be hard to notice once the original is no longer visible.
