Add Suffix to Lines

Append punctuation, extensions, labels, or other text to every line while optionally skipping blank lines.

Text cleanup runs locally in your browser. These tools operate on plain text lines; structured CSV/JSON/XML and regex workflows remain in their dedicated tools.

Suffixing preserves line order

Skipping blank lines changes how empty and trailing lines are treated. The audit makes those boundaries visible.

Repeatable text workflow

Use output as input only when the preview is what you intended. Restore returns to the page-load sample, and the before/after audit remains local to your browser.

Practical guide and verification

Use the product first, then apply these tool-specific checks to verify assumptions, interpret the result, and hand it off safely without moving the primary workflow below generic content.

Define whether blank records should receive the suffix

An empty line can be noise or a meaningful record separator. Decide before transforming the list. Adding a suffix to blank rows can create lines that contain only punctuation, while skipping them can change row-for-row alignment. Compare input and output line counts when the result will return to a spreadsheet or database.

Watch for existing suffixes before applying a batch

Appending .com, commas, semicolons, units, or code fragments twice is a common bulk-edit error. Search a sample for values that already end with the requested suffix and decide whether duplicates are allowed. This tool applies the requested transformation; it does not infer semantic duplicates or silently normalize existing endings.

Preserve escaping rules in code and structured data

Adding quotes, backslashes, commas, or markup characters can change syntax when the result is pasted into JSON, CSV, SQL, shells, or programming languages. Use the appropriate formatter or serializer when escaping is required. A text suffix operation is literal and should not be mistaken for a structure-aware transformation.

Keep an undoable source for large transformations

For important lists, retain the original column or text block and create the suffixed version as a new field. Verify a few first, middle, and last rows before replacing downstream data. Simple line transformations are easy to audit when the untouched source and the chosen suffix remain available side by side.
