Text Cleanup & Line Tools

Join Lines

Combine one-item-per-line text into a single line using spaces, commas, tabs, or a custom delimiter.

Text cleanup runs locally in your browser. These tools operate on plain text lines; structured CSV/JSON/XML and regex workflows remain in their dedicated tools.

Joining removes line boundaries

The selected separator replaces boundaries between kept lines. Use the before/after line delta before chaining another transform.

Repeatable text workflow

Use output as input only when the preview is what you intended. Restore returns to the page-load sample, and the before/after audit remains local to your browser.

Practical guide and verification

Use the product first, then apply these tool-specific checks to verify assumptions, interpret the result, and hand it off safely without moving the primary workflow below generic content.

Choose a separator that cannot be confused with data

Joining lines with commas, pipes, tabs, or spaces is safe only when the original values do not use the same character ambiguously. For CSV or shell commands, quoting and escaping rules matter. If the joined string will be parsed later, choose a delimiter and escaping convention together rather than treating the separator as purely visual.

Decide how blank lines should behave

Removing empty rows can be useful for lists, but in prose, configuration, templates, or aligned records a blank line may carry structure. Preview a representative sample with blank-line removal both on and off before transforming a large block. Preserve the original text until the destination has accepted the joined form.

Trimming can alter intentional whitespace

Leading and trailing spaces sometimes matter in code, fixed-width files, Markdown, or identifiers. Enable trimming only when whitespace is known to be incidental. A quick audit is to compare line counts and show invisible characters in an editor when the source came from spreadsheets, copied tables, or systems that may include non-breaking spaces.

Round-trip when the output will be split again

If another system must later reconstruct the original lines, test a split operation using the same delimiter and escaping rules. Joining is inherently lossy when delimiter occurrences inside values are not escaped. A successful visual result is not enough when exact record boundaries need to survive a later machine parse.
