Engine Displacement Calculator

Enter bore and stroke in millimeters or inches to calculate cc, liters, and cubic inches.

—Displacement cc
—Liters
—Cubic inches
—Per cylinder
—Geometric swept displacement = π/4 × bore² × stroke × cylinders.

Displacement, bore/stroke & overbore evidence

Cross-check displacement in cc/L/ci, per-cylinder volume, bore/stroke character and what an overbore or target size implies.

Vehicle spec tolerance & calibration envelope audit

Rebuild the current nominal result with an independent formula, perturb the measurements/specifications you choose, and report a min/base/max envelope plus the dominant input sensitivity. The review threshold is user-selected and is not a fitment or safety certification.

Nominal geometry and drivetrain math do not certify vehicle fitment, tire load/speed rating, brake or suspension clearance, structural safety, legal compliance, or measured road calibration.
Automotive tolerance cluster

Calculate the nominal spec, then expose how real-world input spread can move it

Vehicle calculations are often exact only on paper. This cluster keeps the base result while making rolling radius, gearing, wheel measurements and performance-input sensitivity visible.

Practical guide and verification

Displacement is swept cylinder volume

Engine displacement is based on cylinder bore, piston stroke and cylinder count. It describes geometric swept volume and does not by itself determine power, torque or efficiency.

Diameter must be squared

Cylinder area uses π×bore²/4 before multiplying by stroke. Forgetting the square or mixing radius and diameter is a common source of large errors.

Common mistake

Do not mix millimetres and inches in the same formula without conversion. Because bore is squared, a unit mistake can be amplified in the final volume.
