Generate one or multiple random colors, preview swatches, lock colors, and copy HEX values.

Palette contrast & CSS audit

Measure luminance and WCAG contrast against black/white for the current palette and export CSS variables.

Core random, wheel & group workflows

Use the broad picker, number, wheel, name, team or dice workflow first. Move to a specialist only when the probability model or output structure genuinely changes.

Fairness and randomness boundaries

Random selection can make equal-probability choices from the entered pool, but it cannot prove that the input list itself is appropriate or unbiased. Visual wheel/dice animations are presentation only. Seeded tools remain reproducible pseudo-random workflows rather than cryptographic randomness, and rating-balanced teams use a transparent heuristic rather than an optimal or human-judgment model.

Practical guide and verification

Use the interactive product above first. These notes add interpretation, verification and limits below the results and product controls.

Random-looking colors can still fail readability

A vivid or pastel palette may contain pairs with poor text contrast. Check foreground/background contrast separately when the colors will be used for labels, buttons or data visualization.

Color format does not change the underlying color

HEX, RGB and HSL can represent the same displayed color. Converting a generated color to another notation should preserve its visual value apart from rounding; use conversion as a simple verification step.

Random selection is not a design system

A random palette is useful for exploration, but production interfaces still need semantic roles, accessible contrast and consistent reuse. Save the chosen palette and assign roles rather than regenerating colors on every page load.

Display differences are expected

Wide-gamut screens, color profiles, brightness and surrounding light can change how the same CSS color appears. Use numeric values for reproducibility and review important brand colors on representative devices.

Keep the exact chosen values for reproducibility

Once a useful random color is found, record its numeric HEX, RGB or HSL value instead of relying on a later random draw. This makes design review, contrast testing and implementation repeatable across pages and devices.
