Apple Touch Icon Generator

Generate a 180×180 PNG locally with configurable background and fit, plus the matching apple-touch-icon link tag.

Choose an imageThe generator outputs a plain square PNG and leaves platform presentation effects to the operating system.

Before shipping the icons

Create from artwork, inspect tiny sizes, generate platform assets, then audit the local package and manifest declarations before deployment.

Local checks are not deployment checks

These tools do not fetch your live site, verify HTTP headers, confirm browser cache refresh, test service workers, or certify installability across every platform.

Usage notes optional

A 180×180 icon is the modern default, not a deployment guarantee

The generated 180×180 PNG is a practical Apple touch icon source. Safari may scale it for different devices, but the icon still needs a correct link element, a reachable production URL, appropriate caching, and visual testing on an actual home-screen shortcut.

Design for masking, scale, and small-size recognition

Avoid tiny text and details near the edges. Test the exported PNG rather than only the browser preview, because resampling, background color, and the source image crop can change how the icon reads at launcher size.

Verify the final link element and deployed response

Generating the PNG is only half the task. The production page should expose the intended apple-touch-icon link, the URL should return the image with a stable content type, and caching should not leave an old icon after an update. Test the deployed site by adding it to a real iPhone or iPad home screen; browser previews cannot prove the installed shortcut uses the expected asset.

Start from a sufficiently large square source

Upscaling a small or heavily compressed logo cannot recover missing detail. Use a clean square source larger than the target icon when possible, then inspect the generated 180×180 PNG for edge softness, transparency, and background contrast before deployment.
