Maskable Icon Generator

Maskable safe-zone previews are design guidance; actual operating-system masks and rendering can vary.

Choose an imageDashed circle marks the standard central maskable safe zone; the guide is not baked into the downloaded PNG.

Launcher mask preview and manifest handoff

Keep the primary generator above, then inspect the same selected artwork across common crop shapes, adjust padding, export 192/512 maskable files, and copy a reproducible manifest snippet.

Before shipping the icons

Create from artwork, inspect tiny sizes, generate platform assets, then audit the local package and manifest declarations before deployment.

Local checks are not deployment checks

These tools do not fetch your live site, verify HTTP headers, confirm browser cache refresh, test service workers, or certify installability across every platform.

Practical guide and verification

Use the tool first, then use these checks to interpret, verify and hand off the result without displacing the primary workflow.

Keep critical artwork inside the guaranteed region

Maskable launchers can crop the full square into different shapes. Keep logos, letters and other critical details inside the central safe-zone model, while allowing background color or noncritical artwork to extend to the edges. The preview matrix is a design check, not a guarantee of every device skin.

Preview several masks instead of one attractive shape

An icon can look perfect as a rounded square and still lose important corners in a circle or squircle. Compare multiple masks before export and increase padding when any critical feature approaches the crop edge. Long wordmarks usually need more breathing room than compact symbols.

Export separate purpose files and verify the manifest

Maskable artwork and ordinary any-purpose artwork may need different padding. The generated 192 and 512 maskable files and manifest snippet are a handoff aid; verify that the file paths, sizes, MIME type and purpose match the files you actually deploy. Do not assume a local preview proves the live manifest is reachable.

Test the installed result on real target surfaces

Browser and operating-system launchers can apply shadows, backgrounds, themed icons, scaling and shape choices that differ from a canvas preview. After deployment, install the PWA on representative devices and compare the home-screen result with the source preview before declaring the icon package final.
