Core generate, validate, scan & print workflows

Start with the broad generator or the exact symbology required by the receiving system. Use the scanner and check-digit tools to verify existing identifiers instead of treating rendering as registration.

Standards and assignment boundary

Use the exact symbology required by the receiving system. WebToolArc can validate supported syntax and check digits, but it does not allocate GS1 identifiers, certify regulated documents, or guarantee acceptance by a particular scanner, retailer, carrier, or institution.

Validate the payload against Code 39 limits

Code 39 supports a defined character set and often uses optional start/stop characters around the encoded data. Do not assume arbitrary Unicode or long free-form text will scan correctly. Keep the exact payload beside the barcode and confirm that the receiving system expects Code 39 rather than another symbology.

Physical size matters as much as the browser preview

Bar width, symbol height, quiet zones, printer resolution, and viewing distance affect scan reliability. A sharp on-screen preview can become unusable after scaling or low-quality printing. Export at the intended size, print a sample when relevant, and test it with the actual scanner workflow.

Human-readable text is not the encoded bars

The visible caption helps operators confirm the payload, but scanners read bar/space patterns. If a downstream system adds or strips start/stop markers or a check character, the caption may still look familiar while the decoded data differs. Verify the scanner output, not only the text under the symbol.

Preserve a known-good reference

For repeated labels, keep one independently verified sample and compare later exports against it. Record the payload, dimensions, foreground/background contrast, and print settings. This makes it easier to separate a generator change from printer, paper, camera, or scanner differences.
