Barcode Scanner

Decode locally when the browser or client-side fallback supports the symbology; scan success does not prove that a product or logistics identifier was officially assigned.

Native BarcodeDetector is used when available; otherwise ZXing is loaded as a fallback. Camera access requires HTTPS and permission.

Continuous scanning controls

Pause after a successful camera scan when you want one item at a time, or leave it off for repeated inventory-style scanning.

Deduped scan evidence & export

Keep a small browser-session audit trail so repeated inventory-style scans can be reviewed or copied without another app.

Session export

This session log watches decoded results shown by the existing scanner. It does not upload images or barcode values.

A successful decode identifies encoded data, not product authenticity or ownership.

Barcode preflight & print-readiness audit

Independently inspect the current payload, check-digit evidence, vector/raster export surface and print density. The audit does not assign, register or certify a GS1/UPC/EAN identifier and cannot guarantee scanner acceptance.

Generate, validate or scan above, then refresh this preflight.
Local planning evidence only. Confirm final physical dimensions and identifier ownership with the receiving workflow or governing standard.

Core generate, validate, scan & print workflows

Start with the broad generator or the exact symbology required by the receiving system. Use the scanner and check-digit tools to verify existing identifiers instead of treating rendering as registration.

Standards and assignment boundary

Use the exact symbology required by the receiving system. WebToolArc can validate supported syntax and check digits, but it does not allocate GS1 identifiers, certify regulated documents, or guarantee acceptance by a particular scanner, retailer, carrier, or institution.

How to use this Barcode Scanner

Upload a barcode image or start the permitted camera. The page reports the raw decoded value, detected format, character count, decoder path and compatible check-digit context when applicable.

Privacy and trust boundaries

Barcode images and camera frames are handled in the browser. Decoder support varies by browser and image quality, and a syntactically valid code does not prove that the identifier was officially assigned.

Practical guide and verification

Use the product workflow above first. These notes add interpretation, verification and limits without displacing the inputs, results or visual review.

A successful decode proves readability, not identity ownership

The scanner can recover the symbol payload and identify a supported format, but it cannot prove that a UPC, EAN or GS1 identifier was legitimately assigned to the product in front of the camera. Treat assignment and authenticity as separate checks.

Image quality matters before decoder choice

Blur, glare, perspective, cropped quiet zones and low module contrast can prevent a valid barcode from decoding. Before changing formats or assuming the code is invalid, try a sharper image with the whole symbol visible and enough margin around it.

Use the detected symbology as part of the evidence

A numeric payload alone can fit several business identifiers. Keep the detected format, raw value, character count and any check-digit result together when copying a scan so a later review does not lose the context that produced the value.

Camera and image paths have different failure modes

Camera scanning depends on HTTPS, permission, focus and browser media support. Image upload avoids live-camera permissions but still depends on the decoder supporting the symbology and the pixels containing enough detail. Retest with the other path when a result is uncertain.

Privacy is local to the scan data, not every library request

Images and decoded values are handled in the browser during normal scanning. Some browsers may need to load the fallback decoding library before it can work, so network availability can still affect startup even though the barcode image itself is not intentionally uploaded for decoding.
