Application Identifiers	Parses known AIs, field lengths/types and supported family patterns.	Confirm the AIs and mandatory associations required by the current GS1 specification and trading partner.
Character sets	Checks numeric fields plus GS1 CSET 82, CSET 39 and file-safe/base64url-style fields. Literal spaces are rejected from CSET 82.	For percent-encoded transport/address fields, encode spaces and other special data exactly as the applicable GS1 rule requires.
FNC1	Counts separators after variable-length fields when another element follows.	Verify the decoded data with a GS1-aware scanner/verifier.

Standards, assignment & verification boundary: WebToolArc creates artwork and performs a conservative local preflight; it does not issue a GS1 Company Prefix, allocate GTIN/SSCC/GLN identifiers, prove mandatory AI associations, certify ISO/IEC symbol quality, or guarantee acceptance by a retailer, carrier, warehouse, healthcare system or scanner fleet. The local catalog intentionally blocks unknown AIs from a clean PASS instead of guessing. GS1 standards evolve, so confirm production labels against the current GS1 General Specifications and the receiver's routing/label guide, then test the final printed symbol.

What GS1-128 adds

GS1-128 is not just Code 128 with arbitrary text. It carries structured GS1 Application Identifiers, so the meaning and length rules of each data element matter as much as the bars themselves.

Before generating

Identify the exact Application Identifiers required by the business process, then validate field lengths, character rules, and variable-length separators. A barcode that scans can still encode semantically invalid GS1 data.

Print quality

Leave adequate quiet zones, avoid scaling a raster image unevenly, and test the printed symbol at the actual size and on the actual label stock. Screen readability does not guarantee scanner reliability.

Standards and assignment boundary

Use the exact symbology required by the receiving system. WebToolArc can validate supported syntax and check digits, but it does not allocate GS1 identifiers, certify regulated documents, or guarantee acceptance by a particular scanner, retailer, carrier, or institution.
