A Code 128 symbol needs clear space before the start pattern and after the stop pattern so scanners can locate it. Do not crop the vector tightly to the first and last black bar or place borders, text or graphics inside the required margin.
Code 128 supports several character sets. Long even-length numeric runs can be represented more densely with Set C than with one-symbol-per-character encoding. If label width is constrained, confirm whether the generator or downstream barcode library automatically chooses efficient subsets.
Code 128 uses a modulo-103 check calculation. A barcode that merely resembles Code 128 is not enough; the encoded sequence must include a valid check character and stop pattern. Scan the exported result with an independent reader before a large print run.
A crisp browser preview can still fail after being resized too small, printed at insufficient resolution or distorted non-uniformly. Keep bars on clean module boundaries, preserve aspect proportions where appropriate, and test the physical label at the actual printer and viewing distance.
Code 128 can encode ordinary internal text as well as structured logistics data. Generating a valid symbol does not assign a GS1 identifier or prove that a number belongs to a product. Keep assignment, data syntax and scan readability as separate checks.
