Choose markup that matches the review intent

Text notes, highlights, rectangles, and freehand marks communicate different things. Use a consistent color and markup convention if another person must review the file. A visual rectangle or white cover is not secure redaction; sensitive source content remains in the PDF unless a true redaction workflow removes it.

Verify every edited page before export

Page navigation and zoom affect what you see while placing marks. Revisit pages with annotations, check their count, and confirm the mark sits on the intended content. Large or rotated pages deserve extra inspection because screen coordinates must be translated back into PDF page coordinates during export.

Keep the source when annotations may need revision

The exported file contains the visual additions created by the browser workflow, but later editing behavior can differ from a dedicated annotation application. Preserve the original and, when the review is important, open the output in a second PDF viewer to confirm page order, appearance, and readability.

Separate annotation from document editing

Adding text or drawing over a page does not rewrite the original paragraph, image, or embedded text object underneath. Use this tool for markup and review. If the task requires changing existing PDF text, OCR, digital signatures, or standards-compliant native comment objects, choose a workflow designed for that requirement.
