Weighted Average Interest Rate Calculator

Blend any number of balances into one exact weighted rate, inspect each balance's contribution, and compare consolidation or refinance rates locally.

Core borrowing, saving & investing workflows

Start with the broad calculator that matches the decision, then move to a specialist only when the loan structure, cash flow, tax treatment, debt strategy or savings goal genuinely changes.

Compare debt and rate scenarios

connects debt payoff, credit-card cost, loan comparison, APR/APY, effective-rate, weighted-rate, and hypothetical consolidation calculations.

Compare assumptions, not offers

Results are deterministic browser-local math from the values you enter. They are useful for scenario comparison, but they are not a lender quote, approval decision, investment forecast, credit recommendation, or substitute for an account agreement.

Usage notes optional

Weight each rate by the balance it applies to

A weighted average rate summarizes multiple balances as one effective nominal rate. It is not the simple arithmetic mean unless every balance is equal. Keep balances and rate periods consistent before comparing the combined result with a consolidation or refinance offer.

A lower weighted rate does not prove lower total cost

Fees, compounding conventions, promotional periods, term changes, required payments, and payoff timing can outweigh a headline rate difference. Use this result as a rate summary and compare actual cash flows when evaluating a new loan or payoff strategy.

Use the combined rate as a summary, not a payoff schedule

The weighted rate answers “what nominal annual rate represents these balances right now?” It does not model how balances shrink under different minimum payments or how interest accrues day by day. If debts have different payment schedules, promotional expirations, or compounding conventions, run a cash-flow payoff comparison as well. The weighted figure is most useful as a snapshot for portfolio-level rate comparison.
