Editorial title-case rules have edge cases, syllable counts are heuristic, Unicode style substitutions depend on font/app support, and normalized or visually similar Unicode text is not automatically safe or equivalent. Structural XML comparison should use the XML-aware engine rather than a raw line diff.

Spaces, tabs, repeated blank lines, non-breaking spaces, and zero-width characters are different data. Normalizing ordinary prose can be helpful, while the same operation can break source code, Markdown tables, fixed-width records, or indentation-sensitive formats. Confirm the text type before choosing an aggressive cleanup option.
A cleaner-looking paragraph can still have altered paragraph boundaries or list structure. Compare line and paragraph counts before and after processing, especially when the text will be pasted into CSV, YAML, subtitles, templates, or systems where a blank line carries meaning.
Some copied web text contains non-breaking or zero-width characters that are not fixed by collapsing ASCII spaces. If a downstream validator still rejects the result, inspect Unicode code points with a dedicated character tool rather than repeatedly removing visible spaces and assuming the remaining issue is identical.
Keep the original text and compare a beginning, middle, and ending segment after cleanup. For large content, search for double spaces, tabs, unexpected joined words, and lost blank lines. The safest handoff is one where the intended whitespace rule can be stated clearly and reproduced.
