    Reviewing the current data…

This review checks structure and common interpretation risks; it does not prove that the source data, measurement method, denominator, units or conclusion are valid.

    Exact regions & Jaccard similarity

Count the actual overlap regions behind the diagram and quantify pairwise similarity instead of relying only on circle area.

Items are trimmed and de-duplicated within each set. Matching is exact and case-sensitive so normalization choices remain visible.

    Core data-to-chart workflows

Start with Graph Maker or CSV Chart Maker, then use a focused chart type when the visual question changes. Keep source data and export evidence connected instead of treating a rendered picture as the only record.

    How to read this chart

Venn diagrams compare set membership, not numeric magnitude.

    Before publishing

Repeated items inside one input set are deduplicated; review union and intersections before treating the circles as quantitative area.

    Practical guide and verification

Use the interactive product above first. These notes add interpretation, verification and limits below the results and product controls.

Set membership should drive the overlap

When the diagram is generated from item lists, each repeated item belongs in the intersection automatically. Normalize spelling and capitalization first so two labels that refer to the same thing are not treated as different members.

Two-set and three-set diagrams answer different questions

A third set creates additional pairwise intersections plus a three-way center. Use three sets only when those extra regions carry meaning; otherwise the additional overlap can make a simple comparison harder to read.

    Empty regions are information

A blank intersection can be the important conclusion rather than a missing value. Do not fill regions merely for visual balance if the source data genuinely contains no shared members.

Export after checking labels at presentation size

Text that is readable in a large browser preview can become cramped in a slide or document. Review SVG or PNG output at the actual intended size and shorten labels before publication if they collide or become too small.
